Open a Door

Posted: March 4, 2011 in Straight up

One thing I’ve experienced a little too much over my past 4 years at Manchester has been crowded hallways. The whopping 5 minutes that we have to change classes consists of trying to dodge hundreds of students that are trying trying to do the same thing to you. One thing I’ve noticed about the crowded halls is that it’s always a squeeze trying to fit through the doorways that are in the halls. These doorways have 3 doors, I guess cause they thought that would be enough room for everyone to get through.

But the crazy thing is one or two of these doors are always closed cause some kid will decide to kick it closed or something. So now, instead of just opening the doors, everyone will try to fit through one door. I found myself walking all the way across the hallway yesterday so I could walk through the open door instead of just opening the one right in front of me. I think we do that simple because it seems easier and that’s what everyone else in the school is doing.

I couldn’t help but think that this is what a lot of us do with the doors or opportunities in our lives. We go down a path because it’s more convenient. We do something because everyone else is doing it. A lot of our path’s are hurt by our lack of extra effort and failure to break the norm. I believe that if we will start opening doors in our lives, things will begin to happen. So go open a door. Who knows what God could have waiting for you on the other side?

    Whats up Nate,
Definitely enjoyed the post. Hope that everything is going well up there in Midlo. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to come up there soon and catch you in passing I’m sure. Keep up the good stuff.
