Who gets the credit?

Posted: January 9, 2010 in Straight up

I’m almost positive that everyone has had some type of success at something at some point in their life. It could be winning a state championship, or getting an A on a test, reguardless of what it is, you’ve been successful at something.

When success falls on you, so do the eyes of the people around you. My question is, what do you do when those eyes are on you? Do you soak up the attention and worldly rewards? Or do you turn your eyes towards heaven, giving credit where credit is due?

James 1:17 says, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.”  To take credit and fame for all of your success is a slap in the face of God. When all eyes are on you, use your stage to humble yourself and give God the glory. He will honor you for that. 1 Peter 5:5 says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

God blessed you with those successes for a reason, so make use of them as an impact for the Kingdom, not a boost for your pride. Give credit where credit is due. Humble yourself. Give thanks. And be blessed.
